Spiders Complete Sweep of La Salle With 6-1 Victory Sunday

UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. – The Spiders completed the sweep of La Salle with a 6-1 victory on Sunday to close out the 2018 home schedule.
In his final home start, Robbie Baker tossed his third complete game of the season registering a new career-high 10 strikeouts. The right-hander scattered seven hits and only walked one in his outing.
Richmond (28-21, 13-8) struck first on an RBI fielder's choice from Tyler Plantier in the second inning. An RBI groundout from Vinny Capra allowed Anthony Forte to cross the plate and make it a 2-0 game. Plantier drove in the third run of the game after a double to left in the fourth.
La Salle cut into Richmond's lead in the fifth with a run, but the Spiders answered in the home half to maintain a 4-1 advantage. Thanks to a couple of runs in the seventh, Richmond extended its lead, 6-1 to secure the series sweep.
The Spiders will begin the final week of the regular season with a Tuesday night contest at Virginia. First pitch is scheduled for 6:00 p.m.
