Leadoff hitter, Chase Conklin had a hit with two RBI, while Johnny Hipsman extended his hit-streak to 10-straight games with two hits against the Tigers. Reigning A-10 Rookie of the Week Jordan Jaffe went two-for-five with a three-run home run as Alden Mathes led the team with three hits, including a double and home run, and three RBI.
Towson jumped out to a 6-0 lead after the first inning, tagging Richmond opener Dane Armson with all six runs on five hits and two walks in a third of an inning of work. Richmond got on the board in the third and cut the Tigers lead in half, 6-3. Jordan Jaffe hit a three-run, 398-feet blast to left for his seventh home run of the season. Shane Gipson led off the inning with a base hit and was followed by a base hit by Hipsman.
The Spiders got within two runs in the fourth, 6-4, when Mikey Kluska scored on Conklin's RBI ground out.
Matthew Anderson retired the Tigers in order in the fourth, but the Tigers jumped on him in the fifth. Towson tagged Anderson for five runs, two earned, on two hits, two walks in the fifth. Jake Michel was the next out of the bullpen for the Spiders to get the final two outs of the frame.
Richmond answered in the top of the sixth, as Christian Beal and Jake Elbeery drew back-to-back walks to start the inning. With two outs, Conklin cleared the bases with a RBI base hit, advancing all the way to third on a Towson error, then scored on a second Towson error that allowed Hipsman to reach. Jaffe extended the inning with a base hit through the infield before Mathes hit his sixth home run of the season to put the Spiders within one, 11-10.
Towson then put the game out of reach, tacking on nine runs over the final three innings of the contest while holding the Spiders scoreless.
